The simple things

What on earth did I do before I owned a cooking thermometer?
I don't know why it took me so long to buy one but I am very glad I did.
Perfect roast meat is a breeze once you know the right temperatures.

Thank you Heston, even if it's the only thing I have managed to take from your show "Cook like Heston"... I really want to use dry Ice to cook now too XD

Oh the places I've been.... well Japan

My latest half finished project

I've had a blank canvas sitting in my house for 8 months... mocking me -__-

Funnily enough this craft item was bought with a specific project in mind, unlike a few of the things in my craft room*.  This canvas was used as our seating chart for the wedding ^_^ and did a marvelous job I might add.

Personal Photo from our Colourful Wedding
It seemed a shame to leave it blank and while I contemplated what it could be I realised I already had an idea in mind.  While my first thought was to make a Japan shaped pin board this works a lot better.

Each dot is a place I've been and each colour represents a different trip.

I hope to fill this map with as many dots as possible over my life time.

It still feels unfinished though.  I want to find a great travel quote, a Japanese saying or even a haiku to write in the top left corner.  And maybe add a bit of Kanji as well.

For now I'm happy with the new piece of art in our home ^_^

*When I say "craft room" I do not mean a room like these;

I wish!
It's more of a spare room full of random junk, furniture and a cupboard with my limited crafty supplies which will one day become a little more tidy and organised... One day.  Which is a Monday by the way

The very first step

Ok blog, this is it!
I need a place to write and explore all of my ideas.  This is what you are for.

I have a folder on my laptop named "projects" containing finished and half finished ideas but most of my ideas are stuck in my head running around and around.  They need a place to grow and you are it!

I'm hoping by blogging about them, I can get all of these ideas fully formed.
Wow... I have to stop saying ideas, haha.

Do not fear, that's not all you will be about.  How boring would that be!
This will be the place to document my adventures with my gorgeous husband as well as the random parties with my family.  Maybe a few "how to's" in regards to travelling Japan.  I few photos... that's a lie.  Okay,  A LOT of photos.  Essentially everything that I love and encounter in this strange life on mine.

I hope you can handle that blog
